**What are these rates?**

The European Central Banks (ECB) exchange rate is a daily average of the charges used by European central banks, but individuals cannot get these directly. Visa rates are normally close to, or slightly higher than the ECB rate. As we have shown here, all banks must provide the ECB rate (and any fees or charges they add on top), so you can compare charges fairly between all providers.

Remember, exchange rates fluctuate all the time.
